miner excursion

Come to our site and mine for a day!  The mines are 65 degrees all year long,

No need to worry about heat or cold or wind or rain. dress accordingly, Closed shoes or boots prefered, Children over 5 with a parent or guardian and direct supervision.

We have 187 acres and 10 patented gold mines. You can go to the designated area and we will allow you to mine tailings on the floor. in our 65 degree mine! This is a guided tour.

We provide helmets, eye protection, gloves. We will let you use your own equipment or you can rent ours for the day. We have pans, shovels, and picks as well as buckets included in the price. $75.00 per day from 10 am to 4 pm everyday. No reservations needed, Just arrive and check in at the store tell them you want the excursion package!!

Step 1. check in and experience a mine tour thru Bloo Nelly mine. This teaches the history of mining and show the geology the original miners were looking at. This is also where you see the fluorescent rocks. Learn about the history of the site.

Time frame approximately 30 minutes.

Step 2. Instructions and meet your tour guide, get all needed supplies for your excursion.  

Learn all of the safety rules requirements, get your buckets needed to collect the ore.

get your hard hat, gloves, and safety glasses. Please bring water or obtain it from your guide or the drink area. Approximately 15 minutes

Step 3. Get on tram and drive to the mine area. We take you to tunnel II unload gear and  

proceed into mine the guide takes you to designated area, Instructs you on safety again and what to look for as far as colors of rocks and minerals and metals abundant in our mines. We have carts for transporting buckets and equipment around. the mine is lighted,

we also have some portable lights available to you. We have detectors, pointers,  if you chose to use them, it's not needed but some people like to use them. There is one available in the mine unless you would like your own feel free. loops or magnifiers are available for sale or for rent. Approximately 10 minutes

Step 4. Collect ore samples from tailings on floor or as guide suggests. Fill up your buckets

Become a real miner. You keep what you find we ask for no percentage, We do ask to take a photo of your find or your guide can, for our documentation. Plus if you find a lot of gold you will need paperwork to cash it in at a gold buyer!  Participants have found 100 year old tools, some precious stones and just fun odd items from the past! 

We use a wagon to carry out your ore buckets. Time frame Approximately 1 hour

Step 5. We then walk to crusher area. The authorized personnel will take your bucket of ore and crush it.  You can watch from a safe area. It is loud and dusty! Watch your ore go from rock to powder! We then return your bucket with crushed material. Or You can use manual crushers, but that's a lot of work, Kids do like that!

Approximately 30 minutes

Step 6. Panning Station you go to designated area and scoop your ore into pans and see what you can find. Guide will show you how to pan and guide you to what your seeing.

It takes a while to pan the crushed ore. We bag your findings into ziplock bags to take home. Or you can take your bucket for additional $3.00.  Time frame from 30 minutes to

1 hour. Total time for excursion is around 4 hours. We are open from 10am to 4pm. Excursions start at 10:30

 latest excursion start time before noon.
